University room year three

As I've finally had time to get round to it (yes, I've been very absent over summer) I thought I would do another blogpost showing you the ins and outs of my university bedroom. For the past three years I have done a post including pictures and bits and bobs inside my room to give anyone some inspiration  about how to style a uni room. Or, if you're just nosy, like me it's always nice to have a look inside people's bedrooms.

I put a lot of effort into decorating my room each September as I feel that it's nice to have a area where you can chill and feel relaxed when you are doing your work or just laying about. I like my room to feel cute and homely and just a sweet place to be so I am always collecting little trinkets and odd bits to put in it.

This year my room is up in the attic, right at the top of the house. It's been weird having to get used to the sloped ceilings but I think they actually add to the cosiness of my room.

Most of the items in my room will be mentioned in the previous years blogposts which I will leave below, anything that is new I will leave details about here. So this is my bed, I love how it is next to the sloped ceiling as it gives it a nice tucked in feel. I struggled to find space to hang too many pictures because of all the low walls but I hung a picture above my bed and a dream catcher which I bought when I was on holiday. I hung some bunting to the ceiling which I think gives the room a bit of a festival feel to it.

As I had a lot of floor space this year I got a rag rug from John Lewis for about £20 and I love it, it really fills out the room and adds lots of bright colours!

When I first moved into my room I had too many bits and bobs which made my room look untidy and cluttered. I went to ikea and got this fab storage shelf for £20, it's great for shoving all those bits and bobs you have no where to put!
I also love the blue insert drawers which were £2.50 which add a pop of colour to your bedroom! On top of these shelves I love to put candles which make your room look really pretty at nighttime!

Here is my very cluttered desk but you get the idea, I like to get lots of colourful bits to make a dull room seem a bit more lively. I also added some fairy lights  to my pin board to brighten it up.

I just have a very simple plain mirror which is hung up on the wall, and around it I have some sweet little flowers which were from Amazon just to add a more girly touch.

I also added some more fairy lights which were £5 from tesco home. I got them in spaceships theme as I thought this would look super cute at night time with the sky window.

Lastly, my favourite part of the room is this little right hand corner where I just put lots of ornaments and bits and bobs.
I love this turquoise blue colour as I think it's bright but calming at the same time. I have three little tea light holders from Tiger, and a cute teacup and teapot set from Marks and Spencer's. I also bought a vintage style clock from ikea and filled a Amazon jar with some fairy lights.
I think it looks very relaxing and cosy when I'm tucked up in bed with all my candles and lights on!
Finally, I made a little display of polaroids hanging above the chest of drawers, I purchased some heart shaped pegs and just attached them with string to give it much more homely feel!

Thank you for taking a look inside my room, if you fancy looking at the other two years here they are;

2013 highlights

Hey lovelies,

I seriously cannot believe that it is very nearly 2014 already, time really does fly. As I haven't done much blogging this year (it's a New Years resolution, I promise) I thought I would share with you some of my highlights from the last year!

Obviously, as with all years there are highs and lows, but I have to say overall this year has been pretty amazing, to say the least.

I also have to say that most of my happy memories from this year come from the summer months. I am much much more of a summer person, and therefore I think of that as my best memories and also I think the year started to pick up in the spring and those are the memories I would like to share!

Dressing as Ariel for my birthday was one of the best nights ever, it was the last uni night out before summer and all of me and my amazing uni friends had a disney night out! I had the most amazing night and it was such a lovely thing to do to celebrate the end of freshers and our first year at uni with all of my fab new friends!!!

My sisters prom wasn't obviously an amazing experience for me but it was lovely to see her looking all lovely and pretty and very grown up and it's just a nice photo of us three!

Finally got straight teeth, I'm so pleased that I decided to get my inman aligner this year and now I love my teeth, check out my inman aligner post for more information!

I have also had such a lovely year with this one! And we have done so so much, visited loads of new places and just made loads of memories!!!

Bestival was wet, cold, muddy and windy.... But SO much fun! I hadn't been to bestival before and it is probably my fave festival so far. There is just so much to do and see and it was so cool!!!

I stayed in an airstream, on the isle the wight, now that's something pretty cool to say that you have done! I'm really into retro and vintage things so this was right up my street!

Moved into my uni house with all of my lovely uni friends and we have had the best time so far, it's so nice to have a group of friends who are like a little second family!!

And finally, Christmas was super perfect this year. Even though I'm getting old it still felt so cosy and magical and I wish it wasn't over.

However, I have some really good feelings about next year seeing as this year has ended on such a high I am pretty excited to see what next year brings!

Have a good one everyone,

Love and hugs,

Alice May

University room, year two

Hey sweets,

So following my post from last year I thought I would do another post on my university bedroom. As I'm in my second year now, I've moved out of halls and into a pretty small and student type house. I've got quite a small room compared to my room at home however I do think it's pretty cute and cosy and I do always love decorating my room when I move in, so take a look!

We picked our rooms out of a hat so that it was fair and I was lucky and got a room on the second floor. I like it because the sun shines through which is pretty nice in the morning.

I always like my room to look really homely and cosy, especially as I spend a lot of my time in here doing work and things. I also love the vintage, shabby chic look.

I've taken a lot of things from my room last year, and as you can see from my pictures my taste is very flowery, girly and Cath Kidston like.

I've got some floral bunting from Acessorize which lines the top of my wall and gives my room a bit of colour. I'm quite lucky that all of my furniture in the room was already white, so it all goes really nicely together.
My bedding is from Ikea and was pretty cheap, again I think it just adds to my room and makes it look all cosy, similarly I have a flowery throw/blanket on the end of my bed which was from Tesco. It's pretty amazing where you can find all sorts of nice items for you room.

I've left my chest of drawers at the end of my bed just to have my candles on as it looks really sweet at night when its dark. One thing I love about being in a house is that I can actually burn candles. I just got some little vanilla tealights from ikea and found these little candle holders in a shop called Tiger which is kind of a much smaller version of Ikea, it is fab.

I've then just added a few photo frames, and my Urban Outfitters light up bunny, which all of my friends seem to hate but I love. I also have that metal looking bulldog ornament, it's actually a money box, but I just think it looks cool sat on the side there.

This has to be one of my fave things in my room. It's a vintage Mary Poppins vinyl which was passed down to me from my great great Aunty who is 98. Crazy, when I got it I just had to frame it because I think it looks super cute and I am a massive Disney fan.

I also have another vintage style bed sheet. This one I got from BHS, again I was really surprised at how nice the bedding sets were in there. I also got one of my cushions there, its a really sweet old style postcard with a bow and some birds on. My other cushions are from last year, so are mentioned in my previous post, and then of course I have Mike Wazoski.

I also got this really cheap photo frame in Tiger, it was only £5 which I thought was such a bargain.

And then my laptop sticker and case I got on Ebay, and they just add to my girly room style.

The far corner of my room I'm not actually that much of a fan. It gets really crowded as I do struggle a bit for storage space which is annoying so it is often very very messy over there.

I've put up a little pin board on the wall which I have just stuck on some postacards, pictures, cards and letters and any memories that make me smile. I love my fairy lights, in fact my room needs more, it just makes a room feel so much more warm and cosy. Literally every night I stick my lights and candles on and get into bed and feel mega snug.

My desk also gets kind of cluttered around with all my work and books and such, but I managed to find a picture where it is quite tidy.

I haven't commented too much about where everthing is from etc, because a lot of it features in my previous post so go check that out.

If you have any questions please feel free to comment. Thanks for checking out my room, I hope you like it.

Much love,

Alice May

The Clothes Show Live

Hey hey hey,

So this is just a pretty quick post. Just want to get back into the swing of blogging and such.

Anyway, last Friday I went to the clothes show live, in Birmingham. I'd never been before but always wanted to go, so when I found out the Cardiff Fashion Society were going I was of course mega keen to get in on it.

Basically, it's in a big building with loads of halls which is full with stalls of make up, beauty and fashion items. Literally, there is sooo much there it just goes on and on. As I hadn't been before I didn't really know what to expect but it was amazing.

As you can see I chose to wear a vintage style dress, with a vintage style cardigan and think tights, me and the girls I went with also had a cheeky picture in the photobooth when we arrived!

First thing I picked up was some make up from a few make up stalls, basically alot of them you pay a set price and get a lot more than you pay for.
So for all of this Barry M make up, I paid £10 which is such a cheaper for all of the amount you get. I absolutely love Barry M nail varnish, they have so many lovely colours and nail varnish is one of my many faveourites.
I then went over to Models Own and again got all of this for only £10. This was amazing as you were also able to chose three nail colours yourself, I opted for a green glittery colour (pretty festive) and then a pinky glitter which again was nice and Christmas/new year like. I also chose a black nail art pen as I love experimenting with different patterns and such on my nails and I manganed to loose my other one.

I also spent £5 on a Rimmel set, which came with a mascara, fake tan, nail varnish and a foundation sample, again which would at least be worth about £20 on it's own. So lots of bargains there.

I also got a cute little t-shirt with elephants on, it was only £18, it's pretty loose fitting but I thought it would look nice with jeans and leggins maybe in the spring time as it's got lots of greens and lighter colours in.

Lastly, I was absolutely blown away by they catwalk at the clothes show itself. It was really well done and my pictures do not at all do it justice, it was just full of colours and such lovely girls. If only I could be a model.

Anyway, this is a bit of a simple and rushed post but I hope you enjoyed it. I'm really excited about starting to post more on here.

Much love,

Alice May
